Sessions for Indian Urban Housing Conclave-2022

Organized and convened by Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs in collaboration with UN-Habitat, India, the India Urban Forum sets the pathways for achieving our collective urban aspirations. It is an inclusive event designed to represent views, experiences, and knowledge from all urban actors- Public – Private – People partnerships (4P). The goals of the India Urban Housing Forum are:.

  • Energize discourse on inclusive, sustainable, and resilient urbanization amongst the stakeholders and constituencies as well as general public.
  • Catalyse normative and operational knowledge on socially, economically and environmentally transformative urbanization
  • Promote integration, coordination, and cooperation and leverage public – private – people partnerships for local implementation.

Thematic Objectives of Discourses of Affordable Housing (IUHC)

The objectives of the India Urban Housing Forum 2022 are:

  • To collectively reimagine a housing ecosystem that is affordable, adequate, and safe for urban poor and marginalized groups.
  • To reflect on successes and limitations in existing policies, programmes, and projects on housing provision for urban poor in urban and peri-urban areas.
  • To explore new frontiers for integrated slum (re)development grounded in inclusive and participatory planning and implementation.
  • To foster co-learning on policy and planning instruments and transformative initiatives from stakeholders and constituencies to accelerate sub-national and nationwide scaling-up opportunities
  • To realize/investigate sustainable financing models through public – private – people partnerships in affordable housing provision, and slum (re) development

Conference in Indian Urban Housing Conclave 2022 – Format

The India Urban Housing Forum will cover multiple aspects related to the theme “future of housing, slums and informal settlements” in cities and towns in India through a series of dialogues, roundtables, and side events. The sessions will cover prominent themes pertaining to policies and regulations, urban planning and design, and local implementation and financing with inclusion, participation, climate adaptation and resilience, and sustainability as cross-cutting guiding principles.
