20th October 2022 Session
(10:00 am - 11:45 am)
MoHUA has been putting conscientious efforts in addressing the rising needs of citizens in
rapidly growing cities and towns. While PMAY (U) aimed to provide Housing for All adopting
the cafeteria approach through four verticals, there is still a long way to go before the
housing deficit of the country is addressed completely. Hence, there is a strong need to
deliberate and brainstorm with respective State/UT Governments and domain experts of the
urban sector for devising strategies for slum redevelopment, prevent future growth of slums
and also seek ideas and suggestions about the future of affordable housing policies in India.
With this objective, MoHUA created a platform for dialogues with national and international development institutes, civil society organisations, academic & research institutions and respective State/UT Governments for exchange of strategic, tactical and implementation ideas for policy measures beyond PMAY(U). So far, the Ministry has conducted 19 policy dialogues with multiple organisations. These dialogues have not only created an open platform for idea exchange but also brought forth new and innovative perspectives in the field of affordable housing. As a step forward, the culminating dialogue is proposed.
