Session Brief

Since land and colonisation are state subjects as per the Constitution, States/UTs have been constantly innovating and evolving approaches to provide affordable housing for the urban poor in our cities. Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) is being implemented by MoHUA since 2015 through States/UTs.

The session aims to bring out the innovative policy, finance, administrative, planning, construction technology, sustainable construction practices undertaken by States/UTs to facilitate the implementation of PMAY(U). The learnings from the session will be helpful for recognising and formulating the future of housing policies/programmes in the country. Overall, it will aim to answer questions like:

What have been the innovative best practices adopted by States/UTs in giving fillip to the implementation of PMAY(U)?
How has the implementation mechanism of the Mission varied from State-to-State?
How has the Mission helped answer the local housing issues of the States/UTs?
What are the limitationsfaced by States/UTs in the implementation of the Mission?
