What Initiative Were Taken? : Masks stitching promoting livelihoods of SHGs

Details : Amid lockdown, MEPMA in tieup with Governments of AP enstrusted masks stitching activity to the Urban SHGs to create a livelihood promotion means to SHGs. This project provides Rs.3.5/- per sittching mask .With a day per District to stitch 1 lakh masks , each SHG tailor earns an asuured income of Rs.500/- and more per day through this project. As on date, 3.23 Crore masks are stitched.

Outcome : This thoughtful initiative indeed aided civilians of Andhra Pradesh in different Zones to be safe in these dire days on the other hand enabled Urban Self Help Group Women be the bread winners in the family where men have to means to earn livelihood through this Economic empowerment initiative. SHGs crossed the milestone of stitching Three Crore masks boosting the spirit of Team Work amid crisis. These masks are being handed over to the District officials to disburse freely among the citizens to fight against COVID19.
