What Initiative Were Taken? : Regular Door to Door Garbage Collection alongwith public awareness on COVID-19

Details : GMC is collecting the waste from households under home quarantine in specially marked garbage bags in separate collection vehicles by trained manpower. Collected waste is being disposed as per biomedical waste rules ➢ Regular Door to Door Garbage Collection is continued and public awareness on COVID-19 is being done through Garbage Collection Vehicles Public Address System (PAS) ➢ Regular monitoring of all home quarantined persons is being done jointly by health and police officers. GMC is collecting the health status of the quarantined persons twice a day and if any individual shows symptoms of Coronavirus infection, they are being attended by the medical team

Outcome : With increasing awareness, the municipal also putting best efforts to provide safety to the workers & hence, All sanitation staff are provided with PPE and regular health checkups are being done for all sanitation workers. GMC has identified vegetable vendors in each ward and these vegetable vendors are providing home delivery of vegetables through mobile vegetable carts. Vendors are provided with a special pass for selling vegetable during Covid19 Lockdown Contact numbers of grocery stores and supermarkets in all sectors of Gandhinagar are collected by GMC and shared widely in local and social media. Efforts were taken to improve the home delivery system by the store operators.
