What Initiative Were Taken? : Hunger-free city initiative by Chittur municipality ,Kerala during lock down

Details : Community kitchen -ChitturTattamangalam Municipality with the support of Kudumbashree and through resource mobilization by various sponsorships has started 2 Community kitchens one at Municipality office premises and other at Tattamangalam area. In these kitchens food will be prepared and home delivered to those under home quarantine and for needy people.This kitchen is purely run by the sponsorship mobilised by the ULB from various volunteers.Apart from that Kudumbashree also provide food at reasonable price ie. @Rs 25 to those who demand it. It is provided especially to those who work in banks, in Police department, Fire force, Health department and Municipality as well.

Outcome : The kitchen daily ensures to provide mid day meals to around 300-350 people, including migrant labourers and other needy people who are staying in the municipal jurisdiction .The kitchen also serves to provide food to the destitute and to people who are unable to cook food on their own.The food is provided on the basis of certification from the concerned ward counsilor.All the materials required for running the kitchen has been mobilised through sponsorship from various volunteers,market owners and organisations.The donations are accepted and receipt provided to the concerned person by the Municipal Secretary. Strict hygiene measures has been ensured in the kitchen
