What Initiative Were Taken? : Shelter for Urban Homeless

Details : A Shelter set up at Gorimedu under the scheme of “Shelter for Urban Homeless” under DAY – NULM has been made functional from 26-03-2020 onwards in order to house the stranded Migrant People as well as the Street Vendors of Puducherry Urban Limit. The Night Shelter is being maintained by one NGO, M/s. VIRTUE engaged by Oulgaret Municipality under DAY – NULM Scheme. On an average about 60 members are housed in this shelter from the day of commencement. The food for the inmates are being supplied thrice a day by the District Administration through a charitable institution.
