What Initiative Were Taken? : Rising to the Tablighi Crisis in full force

Details : -Deployment of 40 disinfectant spraying teams for the Markaz building and surrounding areas. Officials and doctors were sent in the building fully covered in body suits to gauge the situation and inmates transferred to quarantine centres and hospitals for monitoring and testing through 35 DTC buses, ambulances and police vehicles with proper sanitization by Public Health workers wearing proper PPE kits. - Hand washing facilities were set up for slum citizens, Curfew Passes issued to feed stray animals and waste generated from quarantine households was picked up using special vehicles for transporting to Waste to Energy Plants for incineration. -Trained Healthcare volunteers appreciated.

Outcome : In a mere three days, 2361 people were evacuated and tested. With the concerted efforts of all stakeholders- SDMC, Delhi Police and frontline workers, the situation was quickly brought under control. The outcome of this operation was that in the remainder of the Nizamuddin area (apart from the Markaz and with no relation with the Jamaat Event), only one person was found as symptomatic and has been kept under quarantine. The SDMC has been agile in reacting to the sudden lockdown by initiating mass sanitization drives where they have sanitized around 4200 public places and have converted 91 of its Government Schools into shelters to accommodate hundreds of homeless and migrant workers.
